ABOUT SANDRA

Sandra van Nieuwland made her mark in 2012 with a distinctive voice and a natural sense of timing on The Voice of Holland. She quickly scored hits with songs like More, Begging and Keep Your Head Up, setting records in the Dutch charts by holding the No. 1, 2 and 3 positions at the same time, with five singles in the Top 10.
Rather than clinging to the mainstream spotlight, she carved out her own path, shaping a sound that is instantly recognizable yet uniquely her own. Her second album Banging on the Doors of Love (2013) brought the hit single Hunter and earned her an Edison Pop Award. She followed with Breaking New Ground (2015) and Human Alien (2018), expanding her artistic palette with indie influences, lush strings and electronic layers. In 2022 she released Wonderland, an intimate and contemporary album featuring Sandcastles, Cinderella and Bandaid.

She also revealed a more rebellious side with Sandra goes Blondie!, a full band live show celebrating the punk rock spirit of Debbie Harry, always with her own signature twist. Along the way, she opened for Bryan Ferry in the Benelux and contributed to various music and theatre projects.

Since then, Sandra has been steadily building her own musical universe of pop, indie and electronica, guided by a voice that is both timeless and unmistakably her own.
